Liposuction

Liposuction is applied to areas where fat accumulates intensively, especially to the hips, abdomen, chest, under the chin, neck, arms, back, waist, thighs and internal parts of the knees. When a weight gain occurs after surgery, the treated areas do not store as much fat as they used to, and even there is a fat distribution that is proportional to other body parts. This result is a desirable result for body shaping. Liposuction is the removal of fat tissue stored in certain areas of the body from the body through negative pressure using a cannula through a small hole in the skin. Liposuction is not a weight loss surgery, it is body reshaping surgery. Liposuction is not a treatment applied in the treatment of obesity as it is supposed, but it is a correction surgery for regional problems.

The holes on the skin are large enough to fit the cannula and are 3-4 mm long. The entries of these holes are opened from hidden places such as folds in the body or in the bikini area, and heal in a few months as there will be no scars. The special solutions used during the liposuction surgery do not cause serious blood loss and have little post-operative pain.

I often perform fat absorption with superficial mechanical liposuction and laser liposuction method. In the superficial liposuction, the specially prepared liquids are given to the region where the liposuction will be applied and then the fat is absorbed from the surface to the deep through 2-4 mm cannulas according to the area and making it this way decreases the the possibility of irregularity.

Laser Liposuction (laser lipolysis) is performed by three main effects: photo mechanic, photothermal and photo stimulation.

Photomechanical effect: In Laser Liposuction, the membrane integrity of the fat cells in the region of the laser beam in the canal is disturbed, the fat flows into the intercellular space This content can be left in that area if it is desired that it is taken out by natural ways from the body, or it can be taken out by suction with a low pressure using a cannula. The photothermal effect occurs on the area outside the area where the photomechanical effect occurs. Coagulation occurs in small veins in this area by photothermal effect. This effect prevents hemorrhage during or after the procedure and ensures low bruising. It creates the effect of photostimulation in the area just outside the area where the photothermal effect is formed.

With the effect of photo stimulation, collagen synthesis is stimulated in these areas, new connective tissue formation is ensured, and a significant recovery and tension of the skin is obtained.

Through the laser liposuction, lipolysis and skin tightening can be done in the same session.

Laser lipolysis and liposuction are frequently preferred for treatment small or medium lipoidosis in a few areas, loosening at neck and face skin and lipoidosis under the chin, lipoidosis inside of the arms and loosening on skin, and lipoidosis inside of the legs and loosening on skin, gynecomastia operations and permanent removal of armpit

Advantages of Laser Liposuction

As the advantages of laser liposuction compared to other suction methods, there can be said that there is almost no bleeding and membranes of the fat cells are disintegrated through laser and stored fats in them liquefy and flows and since it only affects the fat cells, it doesn’t cause any harm on surrounding tissues, veins and nerves. The laser liposuction application, which makes fat removal from desired area more uniform, also prevents surface irregularities due to this feature. In the laser liposuction, which is made with 2 different laser wavelengths, the fat cells are disintegrated at the 1st stage and subcutaneous tissues are tightened by being stimulated by thermal effect at the 2nd stage. Even during the application, collagen fibers are shortened by 20-30% and this increases the skin tightness and this effect continues increasing after 6 months-1 year after application. Fat absorption and skin tightening can be achieved with single session laser liposuction at the same time. With this feature, laser liposuction is superior to other suction methods.

Operation and Post-Surgical Period

The total amount to be safely taken at the limits during the liposuction operation is approximately 5% of the body weight and the upper limit can be increased to 7%. In this case, the patient may need to stay overnight in the hospital. The operation is performed in the hospital environment under local anesthesia, sedation or general anesthesia according to the amount of fat to be taken by liposuction and the size of the area that the liposuction will be applied After the liposuction operation, the patient is dressed in a corset and may not stay in the hospital for a night if too much fat has not been removed and discharged after a few hours. After the surgery, there may have tension, swelling, throbbing and pulling sensations at the areas that the liposuction was applied. There is no pain while resting, but pain can be felt when the area is touched or when moved. In order to minimize these complaints, the area is repressed with a tight corset for four or five days. Daily work and activities can be started in two or three days.

After a period of 3-4 weeks, the edema begins to dissolve, in this period the corset is worn in day time and only be removed at night, wearing it in day time is very important. At the end of this period, the bruises almost completely heal, the liposuction cut scars heal and the body begins to take on a new shape, the surgical areas are rigid and the massages are painful. Since massage or LPG (lipomassage) to be applied in this period accelerates the circulation, they may help the edema to dissolve more quickly and they are useful. The final result appears within three and six months. With the liposuction, you will get rid of the undesirable fats in your body and you can get rid of the fatty areas which you couldn’t have made them lost through fitness exercises for years.
